Statue of Unity & Ahmedabad: history

The Statue of Unity honours Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who brought more than 500 princely states into the Indian union. It stands 182 metres tall beside the Narmada, near the Sardar Sarovar Dam, and was opened on 31 October 2018.

Ahmedabad was founded in 1411 and became a great textile city. Its old walled quarter is a UNESCO World Heritage City.
